After reading todays chapter I found out that my prediction was incorrect because I thought that Maria Isabel wasn’t going to leave Jasmin in Honduras. I really thought that she was going to stay with her daughter Jasmin in Honduras and tell Enrique that she wasn’t going to America and leave him. From what I heard in the potluck about the trouble Maria Isabel and Enrique were having I thought they would break up and Maria would raise Jasmin alone. After reading the chapter I personally believe that Maria should have waited until Jasmin was older because Jasmin is to young to understand.
In this chapter it mainly takes place in Honduras with Maria Isabel. The main characters in this chapter are Enrique, Maria Isabel, Lourdes, and Jasmin. Maria Isabel affected Enrique in todays reading by making Enrique wait until she was ready to leave to America. Another person that affected Enrique was his daughter Jasmin because she never look at Enrique as a father and she also made it hard for Maria Isabel to leave. The last main character that affected Enrique was his mother Lourdes. She made it hard for Enrique to live with her so he had to move out. But, then he started getting all loveable with his mom again.
In the beginning of the reading Enrique was changing his old habits and was saving up money for his girlfriend to come to America. Then, Jasmin starts calling her uncle papi. After that Maria Isabel is really get attached to Jasmin and doesn’t want to leave to leave her behind. Finally Enrique convinces Maria Isabel to come to America and leaves Jasmin behind.
1.what i think that motivates enrique to stay in the United States is Maria Isabel, and jasmin.
2.the factors that cause conflict between enrique and Lourdes is that enrique always brings up when he was a kid and his omo left him and enriques common use of drugs.
3.enrique is living better, he is working with a good paying job, and he is cutting back on the drugs.
4.i felt that she shouldn't have left but at the sametimeit is good that she goes to make more money for her daughter, i felt sad for her daughter.
5.at first they scream at eachother but afterwards they calm down and talk about it.
6.maria and enriques family argue about her staying with her daughter and about her leaving to the US
7.it started with enrique leaving and now maria Isabel will go through what he went through on his trip.
